HOUSING
Cavies do require housing in a suitable accomodation. A suitable hutch should
be strong and well-made. You can purchase hutches from Avondale Hutches at http://www.avondaleanimalhousing.co.uk/. Cavies also can make excellent house pets (I have kept house cavies in
the past). I recommend that you try cavy cages for some good cage designs http://www.cavycages.com and you can make from a few designs, from closed to open and they allow cavies
to exercise freely.
HANDLING
To handle cavies place one hand under their bottom and one hand under their
belly and pick them up carefully. Place them against your body, so that they feel secure.
NAILCLIPPING
Cavies nails grow constantly and unless they can wear them down naturally
they will need to be trimmed. When you cut them, do not cut down to far otherwise you may cut the quick (blood vessel) and
cause bleeding. If you don't feel 100 per cent confident, ASK a breeder or a knowledgeable cavy owner to cut them for
you and ask them to guide you through what they are doing so you will know in the future.
GROOMING
Cavies also enjoy been groomed as it can allow you to bond with them.
TWOS COMPANY
Cavies are social animals and enjoy been kept with another of thier kind.
